11. Tāne Mahuta
Tāne Mahuta was named for the Maori Lord of the Forest, and it’s easy to see why that name is so appropriate. The tree stands over 160 feet tall, and and measures 45 feet around the trunk. In 2013, when there was a drought affecting New Zealand, the local people were so concerned about Tāne Mahuta that they diverted over 10,000 litres of water to the tree in order to save it from dehydration.
