9. Olive Tree of Vouves
This remarkable olive tree, located in Vouves, Greece, is one of seven trees in the Mediterranean peninsula known to be at least 2,000 years old. In fact, most people believe this olive tree in Vouves is the oldest at 3,000 years old. The gnarled trunk is twisted into a gigantic spiral, and it’s shadowed by a gigantic canopy that still produces olives, which are highly prized in the local community. Olives are extremely hardy trees- fire resistant, drought, and disease resistant, which makes them extremely valuable and historically important to the Greek people.
