Go for Gold: Abandoned Olympic Venues
| January 8, 2018
Linnahall – Estonia
Estonia’s Linnahall Olympic venue was built in conjunction with the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980. From an architectural standpoint, the project is astounding. But, from a practical standpoint, this abandoned ex-Olympic venue is all but useless.
Sure, it can still accommodate thousands of spectators in its Amphitheatre, but Estonians haven’t found much use for the 5,000-seat venue since the Olympics wrapped in 1980. Interesting fact, the building was also designed to double as a fortress should war ever reach its shores.
