Monte d’Accoddi – Italy
On the beautiful Italian island of Sardinia, you’ll not only find gorgeous Mediterranean landscapes and great Italian food, you’ll also find … a pyramid? This Neolithic stone pyramid was built in 3020-2970 BC and has a platform at the top which experts say indicates it was used as an altar by the Ozieri people.
Since it was first excavated in 1958, archaeologists have discovered alabaster sculptures, vases, axes, and animal remains that serve as one of the few remaining links to the Ozieris.
