Great Pyramid of Giza – Egypt
For centuries, people have marvelled at the Great Pyramid of Giza, and it is in fact the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one still standing today. Located near the city of Cairo, the pyramid was built during the reign of King Khufu around 2589-2566 BC, and held the record for being the tallest manmade structure in the world for over 3000 years.
Experts estimate that it took 20 years to build this royal tomb. There is no evidence to support the popular theory that it was built by Hebrew slaves. It was most likely built by skilled Egyptians who were paid for their work. Today, millions of people each year still flock to see the Great Pyramid for themselves.
