Listoghil – Ireland

Located among a cluster of megalithic tombs known as Carrowmore found on the Cuul Irra Peninsula in County Sligo, Ireland, Listoghil is a cairn that dates back to around 3500 BC. Although the other tombs surrounding the cairn show signs of cremations taking place, only Listoghil shows evidence of burials, setting it apart from the rest of the Carrowmore complex.

Prior to being restored in 2003, the cairn was supposedly looted, perhaps for centuries, by locals who whisked away the ancient stones to build their houses and farm walls.
