Travel Destinations to Avoid in 2018

Pulpit Rock, Norway

It’s not often that a country tries to deter tourists from visiting, but that’s exactly what Norway had to do after it saw a huge influx of visitors to their Fjord region all thanks to a Disney cartoon. Tourists looking to follow in the footsteps of Frozen’s Anna and Elsa have flooded the hiking trails at Trolltunga and Pulpit Rock causing traffic jams, line ups, hotel room shortages, and an increased number of mountain rescue calls for inexperienced tourists who can’t hack the hike.

In an effort to curb the number of interested visitors, the Western Norway tourism board reduced their 2017 promotional budget in hopes that it might ease some of the pressure on this newly popular destination.
