Travel Destinations to Avoid in 2018

Koh Tachai, Thailand

Thailand is known for having some of the most beautiful islands in the world, but one became so popular that they had to close it off the public entirely. Koh Tachai, a small tropical island located in the Andaman Sea in Thailand’s Similan national park region, used to be a favourite destination of tourists and Thai day-trippers alike due to its long stretches of sandy white beach, clear blue waters, and coral reefs.

As the crowds grew however, tourists and locals began to complain about overcrowding and experts feared that the heavy foot traffic could harm the island’s delicate ecosystem, forcing the Thai government to close off the island from visitors in October of 2016.
