Tragically, children often seem to be the targets in ritual killings, and in Uganda this is no different. Police report low numbers of ritual killing cases, but Kyampisi Childcare Ministers, an Ugandan organization that provides support for families who’ve lost children to this heinous practice, claim to receive several reports of child sacrifice every month. KCM maintains that children are often targeted on their walk to fetch water or to school and are killed in the belief that a sacrifice of the young will increase wealth or improve luck.
