7. Wine Fried Kalettes
If you’ve never heard of kalettes, don’t feel bad as they’re still quite new in the culinary world. Kalettes are a hybrid between Brussels sprouts and kale, which means they’re healthy — until they’re fried in wine, that is. In 2015, a vendor at the Minnesota State Fair came up with an innovative way to serve this new veggie. He breaded the kalettes, fried them in hot wine, then served them with a Thai-style sweet chili dipping sauce.
