The World in Coffee

Frappé

– Greece

Although you’ve probably both heard of, and had, a frappé before, a Greek coffee frappé is something completely different. The drink, which was accidentally invented by a Nescafe rep in the Greek city of Thessaloniki in 1957, is made of instant coffee, water, and sugar shaken or mixed until foamy.

The foamy coffee is poured into a tall glass over ice, and can be topped with evaporated milk, or drunk black. Just make sure to enjoy it with some delicious Greek sweets, like kourabiedes or loukoumades.
