The World in Soda

Cheerwine
A popular regional soda that you can find in the United States, and hails from North Carolina is Cheerwine. Cheerwine has an unusually high level of carbonation and a strong black cherry flavor. Although it’s mostly found in specialty soda stores and restaurants in the South, a national distribution deal with Pepsi in 2005 significantly increased their national profile. If you can, look for Cheerwine in a glass bottle rather than plastic—it’s flavored with original recipe cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup.
