Travelers to Guatemala are being advised by the Center for Disease Control to take precautions to avoid getting bitten by local infected mosquitos. If you’re traveling there, this could mean changing your itinerary to focus on areas of higher elevation, where mosquitos are unable to survive because of the altitude. There are pockets of higher elevation areas closest to the border with Mexico where people are at a lower risk for Zika.
