Atholl Brose
Most people drink Scottish whiskey straight – to water it down would be sacrilege. However, whiskey does figure into several Scottish festive beverages, the most traditional of which is Atholl Brose – a mixed drink made with oatmeal, honey, and whiskey.
The whole mixture is often diluted with cream, which makes it smoother and more drinkable. It’s often served on Hogmanay, the Scottish celebration for the new year.
