Cocido Montañés
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the mountainous regions of Spain can get extremely cold and people who work outside are used to long days of wet and freezing weather. Cocido montañés is a hearty soup that was developed in the Cantabrian region of northern Spain, and is full of protein and vegetables.
It’s usually eaten for lunch and is great at keeping your belly full for a long afternoon of work. It contains white beans, collard greens, and an abundance of pork products like morcilla sausage, bacon, and chorizo.
