11. Berries
The temperate forests of the Pacific Northwest is rich in plants, including delicious berries unique to the region. Huckleberries and marionberries are two varieties found in both Washington and Oregon, while salmonberries can be found throughout Alaska. While these berries are cultivated by some local farmers, there are other rare berry varietals like salal berries, thimbleberries, and Oregon grapes that are only found in the wild; they make a refreshing treat if you find them on a hike.
