5. Wild Mushrooms
Wild mushrooms are a hugely popular ingredient in Pacific Northwestern cuisine. There are many varieties flourishing in the damp, cool forests of the region. Mushroom foraging is a popular pastime, but most people leave it to the experts. You can always find amazing mushrooms at local farmers markets –local favorites include chanterelles, morels, and lobster mushrooms. Mushrooms can be added to a delicious cream sauce for pasta or served sautéed with just a bit of butter to bring out their rich, earthy flavor.
