Do you know the expression “as American as apple pie”? Well, that should actually be “as English as apple pie” as this famous pie comes from England!

Apple pie made its way to the United States thanks to English settlers who brought their favorite creation with them. The English version usually eschews cinnamon and comes with custard or cream.

It is also eaten all over Europe. Both Sweden and France have their own twists on the humble apple pie.
