6. Nakiryu – Otsuka, Tokyo
Only three ramen-ya in all of Japan have ever been given a Michelin star. Nakiryu received its star in 2017, which brought the world’s attention to this small, unassuming ramen-ya, located in the quiet Tokyo neighborhood of Otsuka.
Their specialty is dan-dan noodles, which are made with extremely spicy minced pork on top of a fiery broth. The noodles are on the thinner side, and pair extremely well with the chewy pork. Their side dish of roasted pork is also popular, served atop warm rice and topped with green onions.
