8. Bank Holidays Become Mini-Vacations

What happens in your country when you have a public holiday in the middle of the week? In the U.K., for instance, a bank holiday on a Tuesday is usually moved to Monday, and likewise, on a Thursday, to Friday, so you will have a longer uninterrupted rest.

This is a laughable concept in Brazil. If you have a bank holiday on Tuesday, you won’t work Monday or Tuesday! So, the crème de la crème is a bank holiday falling on a Thursday, followed by one on a Tuesday — you guessed right, people leave work Wednesday night and only come back the following Wednesday!
