9. They Kiss Each Other’s Cheeks When Greeting

Brazilians love to gesture, tend to speak very close to each other and, more importantly, don’t really have (or care for) the concept of personal space. When you greet someone, a half-hearted handshake and a nod won’t cut it — there’ll be some physical contact.

Men give each other firm handshakes and hugs, but when it comes to men and women or women and women interactions, they kiss on the cheek. In Rio, they do it twice, but further south you do it three times. Or if you’re in São Paulo, for instance, it’s just one kiss.
