5. Italy (Volcano Eruption)
If you’ve been paying attention to the news, you might have heard that Campi Flegrei, a volcano in Naples, is “awakening” and increasing its activity. The government raised the threat level from green to yellow, which is something that shouldn’t be ignored, considering over 500,000 people live in that area.
Italy lies between the Eurasian and African tectonic plates and the area is awash with volcanoes – 3 of them still active. One of the country’s prominent attraction is Pompeii, the city which was destroyed by the Mount Vesuvius volcano eruption in 79 AD.
