13. Brigadeiros
Brigadeiros are considered the national dessert of Brazil, and inspire happy childhood memories for Brazilians of every age. Brigadeiros are little balls made of sweetened condensed milk and cocoa powder, rolled in sprinkles, chopped nuts, or anything the chef fancies. They were initially invented after World War II, and became a popular sweet treat because they could be made without sugar and butter, which were still being rationed.
