Hot Magma: Active Volcanoes You Can Visit

Eyjafjallajökull – Iceland
The almost unpronounceable Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland is actually made of a glacier, sitting on top of a volcano’s caldera. It has been erupting regularly since 2010, which was the last period of major seismic activity. One of the major issues that happened when Eyjafjallajökull erupted was that volcanic ash was thrown up into the air, which spread over Europe and caused six days of airport shutdowns as planes were grounded due to poor visibility.
The Icelandic government is currently preparing for a future eruption of both Eyjafjallajökull and nearby volcano Katla.
