10. Charles Darwin

Darwin is best known for his contributions to biology and our understanding of the evolution of the species. In his trip around the world, Darwin gathered fossils and data which later helped him formulate his famous theory.

Darwin boarded the HMS Beagle on her second voyage in 1831 and for nearly five years, he explored the coast of South America, Tahiti, Australia, the Indian Ocean, and Cape Town. Observing the distribution of wildlife in the Galapagos Islands helped him with his studies.
